Richard Kostelanetz

JOHN F. CONE as my ninth-grade teacher introduced me to the joys of reading and writing. If not for him, I might have done something else with my mind (probably in mathematics for which I’d regularly score a higher “aptitude”). A chapbook of mine was recently dedicated to him. Departing from Scarsdale High School, he later became a college dean and the author of books about the opera.
