John Austin on the Values Scarsdale Gave Him

Last night, I caught an interview of the late Tim Russert done two years ago by -- of all people -- Bill O'Reilly. They weren't talking about politics or reporting as much as they were discussing the values their fathers had instilled in them, and which of those values they were attempting to instill in their own kids. It was uncanny. I agreed with every single thing Russert said his father believed. Every word. I found it quite interesting. I have the same values as a man from Buffalo who did manual labor and struggled to put food on the family table. I grew up in an affluent suburb, am incapable of making a living working with my hands (if a light bulb needs changing, I have to call 911) and as an adult have been spared the the financial struggles the Russerts endured.
